Zui hao de shi guang
The film weaves together three narratives about men and women across different eras. In “A Time for Love,” set in 1966, a soldier is on a quest to find a young woman he encountered one afternoon while playing pool. “A Time for Freedom,” taking place in a 1911 brothel, centers on a singer’s desire to break free from her environment. “A Time for Youth,” set in 2005 Taipei, explores a love triangle where a singer engages in an affair with a photographer, causing her partner to suffer. In the first two stories, letters play a pivotal role in shaping the outcomes, while in the third, communication is driven by cell-phone calls, text messages, and a computer file. As the stories progress through time, the likelihood of sexual intimacy increases and words become more liberated, yet genuine communication diminishes.
