The League of Gentlemen

“The League of Gentlemen” is a British comedy series that debuted on BBC Two in 1999. The narrative unfolds in Royston Vasey, a fictional town in Northern England inspired by Bacup, Lancashire. The show explores the eccentric lives of numerous townsfolk, with most characters portrayed by three of the four writers—Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Reece Shearsmith—who, along with Jeremy Dyson, established the League of Gentlemen comedy group in 1995. The series originally ran for three seasons from 1999 to 2002, followed by a film adaptation in 2005. In December 2017, a three-part mini-series was aired to commemorate the troupe’s 20th anniversary.
