Flight of the Butterflies

The journey of the monarch butterfly to its Canadian breeding sites spans two or three generations, but a single “supergeneration” undertakes the remarkable 2,000-mile journey back to central Mexico. This documentary explores Dr. Fred Urquhart’s fascination with monarch butterflies, beginning with his childhood curiosity about their destination, through his extensive research and study of their life cycle and migration, and culminating in his reflections as an experienced scientist on his decades of investigations and findings about these insects.
